Developmental Disability

Currently, Virginia’s Developmental Disability Waivers provide twenty-seven different services to thousands of individuals. DD Waivers include the Community Living Waiver, Family and Individual Waiver, and Building Independence Waiver. The Department of Medical Assistance (DMAS) administers the Waivers, while day-to-day operations are managed by the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS). Mount Rogers Community Services can assist with eligibility determination for DD Waivers within the Mount Rogers catchment area. The division serves both individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Eligibility for DD Waivers are based on three factors: Diagnostic Eligibility, Functional Eligibility and Financial Eligibility. Individuals can meet Diagnostic Eligibility with either an intellectual or developmental disability diagnosis.

Mount Rogers is a conflict-free point of entry for statewide Developmental Disability Waiver Services. Support Coordinators assist in completing assessments and eligibility information for placement on the state’s Waiver Waitlist.

Developmental Disability Support Coordination and Case Management services assess an individual’s level of need while linking and referring to appropriate services. Case Managers and Support Coordinators also provide education and choices for services.
